(7,234 posts)Shoot a cop and they'll lock down a city, shoot a "civilian" and they may put up crime scene tape.

(14,691 posts)a number of years ago, in NYC, an NYPD officer was standing near a building in upper Manhattan when someone dropped a full can of paint from the building roof onto the officer. I don't recall if he was killed or seriously injured but- the police response was pull out the stops. They immediately deployed helicopters, did building to building searches, roadblocks - this at the height of the morning rush. It occurred to me that - they wouldn't do this for me or any other civilian. It kinda changed my perspective.

(5,417 posts)I have no problem lisitng the cops seperate. It is a bigger bews story when a cop is killed in the line of duty, because it does not happen too often.

(10,201 posts)They setup a long and large perimeter.
They then order coffee.
They then make a plan.
They then wait for backup of overwhelming force. 100 to 1 is I believe the standard.
They then move in.
I noticed that, also.
I am grieving for the victims and mad as hell about this. No war on women? Give us a major break. We are not stupid!
