Wishing to help Middle East refugees who have fled ISIS threats, Bellevue East High School DECA students have initiated a clothing drive and a food drive.
Canned food was collected through Nov. 20 at all elementary schools, Bellevue East and Hike Real Estate and now a clothing drive will be held between Dec. 7 to 11 in the same places.
Were going to take everything to the International Rescue Committee office in Wichita, Kan. where the refugees go to get the things they need, said organizer Kollin Crompton.
Crompton, Seriana Williams and Sydney Chaney, all seniors at East, were together recently and caught a segment about the refugees on 60 Minutes. They were moved with compassion when they saw that hundreds of thousands of people are now homeless, have no clothes and no food.
