Trump is threatening to go Third Party.

He is tweeting his followers: Trump: "@WSJ reports that @GOP getting ready to treat me unfairly—big spending planned against me. That wasn’t the deal!"

Got this off the "New Hampshire for Trump" FB page.

It appears that the GOP has a dilemma on their hands. They have no idea how to handle it. If Trump goes Independent, the Democrats take the White House again.

as well as other down-ticket elections. At least I've read the GOP leadership is terrified of that possibility. Who would have thought Trump could ever possibly be nominated?

One of the friends we just had to dinner favors Trump because he likes "what he is for." We were all soft-pedaling our views, and I didn't dig into that. Besides, we were eating.

My belated guess, Kentuck, is if he waved the bible and flag like a good pub, instead of making fun of religion and vets, the GOP nomination would be his to just stroll along and pick up. Denouncing past "gaffs," like pointing out that the economy does better under Democrats, would also be good.

I know there are deadlines for the primaries that have, in many states, passed. But I thought you could get on the ballots as an independent in almost all 50 states up to about 60 days out from the GE. That's why the conventions are held when they're held by the two major parties.

Am I mistaken about that?

it will make it easier to account for the loons that support him. And while we're at it, I think we should keep a data base of the racists and other assorted oddities from the American menagerie that vote for him-you know-just in case. Maybe make them wear a "T" sewn to their outer garments. Maybe better yet, make them wear some sort of headgear....

if Trump made a third-party run. And he will totally believe that he'll be elected, and will not believe it when he loses, demand a recount, and in short do everything possible to overturn the results.

I've occasionally posted about candidates at almost every level being in a bubble, and that is why so many do believe than can win when it is obvious to the most casual observer that they cannot. Trump has been in a bubble his entire life, a bubble that separates him even more from regular people than the bubble inhabited by the rest of the candidates, making him even more dangerous (in my opinion) than any of the other Republicans.

The biggest down side of a third party run by Trump would be that he'd wind up in the regular Presidential debates, and that would be totally awful. No matter who the other two candidates are, Trump will be at his bullying worst, and the news organizations running the debates won't be able to rein him in.

Trump doesn't want to BE president. He just wants to get the most attention. Anywhere. He will be glad to fade out in a third party bid, or even before the convention. Because it would be humiliating to admit he can't do the job.

He believes he could run the country the way he has run his country, and it simply doesn't matter very much if people get fired or he declares bankruptcy once again. He sees that if he's President he'd get constant attention all the time, but hasn't a clue about what the Constitution says, or how laws are actually passed, and so on. He would never admit, if god forbid, he became president, that he can't do the job. He'd bluster and shout down any and all criticism.

If you are correct that all he wants is attention, then I see a third party bid on his part as simply a way of continuing that attention.

Clearly we come to different conclusions from the same evidence, and I certainly don't think that you are just wrong. I could very well be totally off in my assessment of Trump and what he may do.

I honestly don't think he'll get the Republican nomination, because I don't think in the end enough voters will vote for him during the primary process. I do think his ego is so great he'll go for the third party thing, and if he sticks it out he'll be completely surprised when he does not win the three way race.

I like to think that no matter who we Democrats nominate, that person would absolutely beat Donald Trump in the general election, even if Trump is the Republican nominee.

no matter how huge an ego maniac, would put all the energy and money into running for President only for the attention. In Trump's case the money involved might just be pocket change to him, don't really know.

Perhaps the real question to ask is: just how much of an organization has he set up to make sure he's on the ballot in the various primaries, has he opened any field offices, hired any campaign staff. If he hasn't done any of those things, either you are totally correct that it's just for the attention, or he simply doesn't understand how a person actually makes it to the nomination, and there is no one around him saying, "Hey Donald, ya gotta do this stuff."

And a lovely, lovely holiday to you too!

If its ever widely perceived that all of this is some sort of an elaborate stunt to try and split up the GOP so Hillary could win, it could end up backfiring big time by making GOP support within their ranks strong and cause African-American voters to rethink their support of certain Democratic Party candidates. The last thing we need is a President Carson.

I don't know what Trump is doing here but if he continues down this path of attacking African-American people on social media and asking his "fans" to do it at his rallies and if Democratic Party candidates remain silent or gloss over it (I don't know if that's the case though), I don't see this works out.

Either way, Trump is overplaying his cards here but what can you expect much from a shitty businessman who never worked a real job in his life, inherited his Dad's fortune then nearly went bankrupt in the 90s then tried to build a casino empire in NJ only for that to go bust.
