7. Excellent. It is tough to counter lies with the truth when putting a liberal spin on the lie

and ameliorating the lie's damage seem to be more 'realistic and moderate' way to appeal to voters. In practice, countering the lie (even at the risk of 'ignoring the polls') is a better way in the long run to keep conservatives from winning.
