Conservatives hate freedom and want the terrorists to win
Right-wing Colorado pastor and radio host Kevin Swanson suggested that the terrorist attack at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris was "a message from God" and posed a question to the "concert-goers, at least those who survived: 'Did you love the devil and did you love the devil's works as your friends were being shot up in that massacre?'"
On the November 19 edition of his show Generations Radio, Swanson said he was "deadly serious" about wanting to ask survivors of the terrorist attack, which occurred during a concert by the Eagles of Death Metal, whether they "appreciate[d] the works of the devil as their friends where being shot up in that concert" (emphasis added):SWANSON: These events are important. I think it's important to analyze them. They're symbolic to what's happening in our entire society today, and when you get a wake up call like what happened at France's 9/11 last Friday night, at the concert I think we all need to pay attention to what's happening. This is a message from God. God is shooting a shot across the bow and we better be paying attention to this. Music matters, culture matters. Culture ultimately is a reflection of world view, and so if you want to know world view just take a look at the culture and say 'oh that's what the world view is all about.'
SWANSON: It's a warning. Certainly a providential irony here. These are the works of the devil, the mass murder itself, are the works of the devil. In other words, there was a demonstration of the devil and his works happening at the time that they were singing the song "who'll love the devil, who'll sing his song, I'll love the devil, I'll sing his song." At the moment they were singing that, the devil himself or at least the devil influencing these murderers and entered in showed the concert-goers the works of the devil. Now at that point, I think we need to ask concert-goers, at least those who survived "Did you love the devil and did you love the devil's works as your friends were being shot up in that massacre?" I think we ought to ask the question right now. And I'm very serious, I'm deadly serious asking this question. "You were dancing to this worship service to the devil, the devil came in, the devil did what the devil does best: he killed, he massacred, he destroyed. As the devil did his works," again, the microphone is in the face of those who were attending the conference [sic] right now, I'm asking the question of those attending that concert "did you appreciate the works of the devil as your friends where being shot up in that concert?"

Dr Hobbitstein
(6,568 posts)Josh helped start it and performed on the album, but it's Jesse's project. I definitely dig QOTSA more, but "Peace, Love, & Death Metal" and "Death By Sexy" were pretty good albums.

Dr Hobbitstein
(6,568 posts)Along with The Desert Sessions, this is one of Homme's longest side projects. Jesse Hughes tours with the band, Josh does not as he's busy with QOTSA and Them Crooked Vultures. Josh was not present for the Paris attacks.

From head to toe, the Eagles of Death Metal lead singer is like a neon sign advertising the trappings of American rock. Tight jeans. Bright tattoos. Bold views. Wild hair. Several stints in drug rehab. And above all: sexually charged lyrics.
In many ways, Hughes is a fitting figurehead for American rock. Just last month, Grantland called him rocks last wild man. In an interview laced with references to sex, drugs, religious devotion and Donald Trump, Hughes likened himself to rock n roll greats like Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and Prince.
Born in South Carolina to a rock n roll father and raised in southern California, Hughes now sports a bushy handlebar mustache and a slim, frenetic figure.
But there was a time when he was far from a rock star. Instead, he was an overweight video store manager.
But Hughes also seems to capture, for better or worse, much more of the contradictory American condition. He is highly religious and politically conservative. He loves Donald Trump, believes Barack Obama was not born in America and considers George W. Bush his hero because a dude who does blow and likes ZZ Top is my kind of motherf, he told Hyden.
Hughes is an ordained minister who preaches fevered sermons online, but has also posed for naked photo shoots with his ex-porn star girlfriend. He describes himself as devout, but goes by the nickname The D
Nick Alexander, 36, of Britain, manager of U.S. rock band Eagles of Death Metal, who was killed by suspected Islamic State militants as part of the coordinated assault in Paris is seen in this undated photo taken from his personal Facebook site.
Im sorry, but Im going to take full f credit right now for f the destruction of everything good, OK? Because its true, he told Hyden. Everything that the Bible thumpers said about Elvis is f true. It destroyed everything: Intimacy, the ability for people to be married society at large is gone. [Pop culture] brought us the Internet, mass pornography, the death porn of Quentin Tarantino. Its all f darkness and evil and has one goal, dude. And its not anything good for us. Thats the f reality of it, dude.
Bizarrely, his language sounds similar to that of the gunmen who attacked Hughes and his fans in Paris earlier this month.

(27,630 posts)Hughes' political leanings seem to be not all that well thought out.
The only reason I see that he would vote republican, at all, is because he loves guns so much. He seems like one of those nuts who is scared Obama will take your guns away, which seems to be his main motivating factor. Dumb.

(95,337 posts)This is why I am so against Christian Fundamentalism because of the abuse I suffered through as a kid in high school. And today I still define myself as a Christian but a progressive one, one who feels that to be a Christian the best way I can be one is by remembering the message of Jesus which is to help others and not judge others.
But this shit like the a-hole in this article. This is so awful. My father passed away when I was a teenager. I grew up in rural PA and the bullies I dealt with were ones that used religion as a way to bully others. I was a kid that loved her rock music at an early age and I had one of these religious fundies dare tell me that my father was rotting in hell because of the music I listened to (nothing radical just stuff like Zeppelin, Queen, Yes, ELO, Pink Floyd, the standard Rock bands folks loved in the late 70s and early 80s). It was a tough time for me in early 80s and I have to say that it was having that music that helped me to find my way through difficult times after my father's death. Turning up the music loud to your favorite tunes helped clear my mind of negative thoughts and help me to think of how I was going to make it through the day without doing something stupid like wanting to end it all.
I am grateful for that music and know that I am a better person today because of it. These assholes, they should hold their heads in shame for the shit they promote in the name of Jesus Christ. It is wrong and it is shameful and it has nothing to do with Christianity. It is pure hate!

(100,081 posts)I love music but if I dared to say that CCM was terrible (of course this was before CCM became a thing) they would go apeshit, and I got tired, repeatedly of being told how many times i was going to hell if I didn't repent. And no matter how many times I tried to fit in, I just didn't. After 9/11 happened and I saw how ugly things got when assholes like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson came out and said that 9/11 was God unleashing his wrath against America for its' treatment of the LGBT community, I was out entirely. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'd much rather listen to a good rock album than a terrible preacher!

So, you're telling us the Muslim Terrorists ... are actually WORKING on behalf of YOUR God, to kill people? You're ADMITTING ... that the terra-ists ... are Agents of God?
Gee, nice God you got there fella. And it's nice the way you are BASICALLY ... supporting them. Aren't you now?
Oh, but wait ... nevermind you didn't actually mean THAT ... no ... actually, they're working for ... could it be .... SATAN!?!
You're a lunatic, Swanson.
I'm guessing you think that the Eagles of Death Metal ... actually are a Death Metal band, too, don't you?
Does anybody have a link to proof of what this idiot is saying ... that the band was literally in the process of singing a song about the devil at the time they were attacked? Cause I gotta admit if that's true, it's actually pretty dang trippy. Not 'ooooh ... magic sky creatures' trippy, but trippy nonetheless.
