(2,884 posts)It's easy to oppose NT scripture to the KKK.
ISIS has lots of scriptural orthodoxy backing it.

(11,619 posts)They profess belief in Jesus, considers themselves Christian, they go to church, the bible is an essential source for their worship, and the Cross is a symbol central to their ideals. Their Doctrine and Dogma differ with more mainline churches, but that doesn't mean they aren't Christian.
Same with Daesh. They base their faith on the Koran, they believe that Mohammed is his profit, their laws are based upon interpretations of the Koran, they are actually trying to get the rest of the world to attack them so that they can defeat everyone and the ends of days will occur and everyone will become Muslim while Allah rules.
Neither of these groups are representative of Christians or Muslims, but we should not kid ourselves into thinking they that they are not Christians and Muslims.
Neither group can be understood without recognized the essential source of their world view.

(2,884 posts)True as Islam used to stand.
Not so true in terms of the direction in which the pendulum is swinging,
courtesy of 30 years of petrodollars invested in radicalism.

(11,619 posts)The House of Saud is not threatening Europe, North America, or the rest of Asia. They are barbaric and repressive, but have no plans to bring beheadings to a town near everywhere.
Daesh's purpose is to bring the end times, kill every apostate male, and rape their women. They are an apocalyptic cult with the intent to get Europe and the west to invade so they can fight a last battle, defeat the whole world, and bring God's rule to earth.
Though they both hold to a very conservative version of Islam, they are not alike in their intentions or methods. Daesh actually has Saudi Arabia in their crosshairs, and intend to end the reign of the House of Saud and make Mecca the property of Caliphate.
Just because both are reprehensible tyrants with a taste for murder that doesn't mean they are the same.
