Does Trump also want to ban Muslims from praying?
Let's see, Trump wants Muslims to carry IDs, he wants them all in a database, he doesn't want to see any more of them let into the country, he wants mosques monitored and perhaps searched.
We're used to hearing stupid pour out of his always-open mouth, but evidently, there's a whole lot of stupid people buying it.
What if he wants all Muslims to wear patches displaying a star and crescent? Hmm, sounds kinda like that time Jews had to wear yellow Stars of David.
What if he wants all of them to wear ankle bracelets for 24/7 tracking? I wonder how many people would object to that.
There are always demagogues who will do everything possible to create panic and then take advantage of it. Trump and his ilk will never go away. And I guess it's too much to hope that those who fall for it will ever wise up.
But here's the thing. Trump is still leading the Republican pack in the polls. And it's that, not ISIS, that should make most of us shudder.
