This is about the 5th time I've excused myself from jury duty

because someone in one political camp was having a snit fight with someone in another.

Yeah, I really want to get in the middle of that snake pit. *eye roll*

Man, I'll be glad when the election is over!!!

Someone was trying to push a bad hide on a Hillary supporter. I really don't care what side a person is on I am not going to hide just because I support candidate A the other one supports candidate B and now these two people are fighting. Let them deal with it I sure won't end the convo.

we should not be at war over who we support. Make the case for that person and let the other make their case. Now if someone says something that I disagree with I might get a little snippy myself, but that is how I am in real life so...

Some of those arguments are so "inside" that they're hard to follow. I think I turned one like that back recently.

I mostly get GDP/GD juries. Sometimes I/P or guns. Occasionally Religion. Rarely anything else.

To be fair I've never checked in on those groups, but to my recollection I can't think of anywhere I've been groupwise for Jury Duty other than AfAm once and...I think it was maybe one in the Gungeon? Other than that it's all GD and GDP, every single time.

I don't know if I'd do one in I/P. I don't follow the topic much and I know for a fact there's two entire armed propaganda centers churning out the material, so I'm not really interested in sticking my nose into that one. If it was something that didn't require knowledge I would ("Oh hush, you poopyhead!" or the like), but otherwise? Probably not.

I don't have anyone on ignore, but there is one poster that I absolutely have no respect for - my opinion of this one divebombed way back during the ebola crisis.

I have voted to leave posts by this poster even though I have to fight myself to do it lol.

On the bright side, he/she seems to spend a lot of time on suspension, so that's all good.

that should have never been alerted on, much less received a hide. And that sucks, people. For something to be alerted on and hidden for no good cause other than dislike of the poster being alerted on, or because some low radar troll happens to get a jury summons and enjoys handing out hides.

So I switch back to willing to serve only to receive alerts that read like a made-for-TV mini-series from a thread filled with little more than tits for tats from people who obviously have a long history of attacking each other. Alerts that expect everyone to know the missing backstory or worse, the ones that attempt to fill in the backstory with multiple links that really serve no other purpose than to drive home just how fucking stupid the current alert is because it, too was born from the same tit for tat, backbiting hypocrisy as the supporting links.

Wow. That felt good. Thank you!

Maybe I should go back to being unwilling to serve until my frame of mind improves.

It's not so much that I don't have the time (although you are correct; often it's like wading through a swamp of alligator shit before figuring out the actual complaint), but simply because the playground fighting just annoys me too much to want to finish the task.

Seriously, people!!!

I hate DU GD P jury duty.

I will never, ever, ever understand this sort of political blood sport or religion.

I've never ever had a most favorite sports team or religion. When I was a kid Don Drysdale signed my program and shook my little hand, but I didn't get the significance of that until many years later.

It was Free Ticket Weird Kid Day at Dodgers Stadium!!!

Living in the sewers of my brain chemistry, autistic depression, functional only by wretched meds with many yucky side effects such as anorgasmia, this deeply pessimistic person I am, I only recognize the teams that suck demon dick.

Team Reagan-Bush-Bush sucked big cholla cactus demon dick. I personally witnessed President Ronald Reagan as a confused old man who didn't know where he was or what the hell he was doing there, but he did manage to read a few words for the television news machine, so everything in the U.S.A. was okay.

Sanders vs. Clinton are merely the not so bad, compared to my personal ideals.

If I'm ever, by some horrible accident, Emperor of this Earth, many people will not be happy, including those Clinton vs. Sanders warriors.

Obama is a most competent President of this U.S.A.. By my measures, he's Lincoln or FDR great. I'm happy to be on that team.

But you gotta remember this U.S.A is a deeply flawed nation, and always has been.

What we are here, and what we pretend or hope to be, are two very different things.

I'll vote President for the person who can do the job, messy as it is. It won't be any kind of Republican or Libertarian, or anyone other than a modern Progressive Liberal Democrat.

Imperfect.
