http://www.rawstory.com/2015/11/minneapolis-cop-caught-pointing-rifle-at-rep-keith-ellisons-unarmed-son/Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) confirmed on Thursday that the young black man photographed as he was targeted with a weapon by a Minneapolis police officer is his son Jeremiah Ellison, Al Jazeera America reported.
Photo is agonizing for me to see, Ellison wrote on Twitter. My son is PEACEFULLY protesting w/ hands up; officer is shouldering gun. Why?
The picture was posted on Wednesday night, amid protests against police use of force in the death of 24-year-old Jamar Clark. It can be seen in full below.
Police removed demonstrators on Wednesday after they gathered near the citys north police precinct, where Clark was shot early on Sunday morning. Local activists have said that Clark was handcuffed and unarmed at the time. Clark died on Monday night.
The two officers involved in the encounter, Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze, have been put on administrative leave. The Guardian reported that a former police informant sued Schwarze in 2011 for allegedly subjecting him to continuous and unbroken sequence of unlawful searches, intimidation and phone threats in order to do so. The suit was settled out of court.

OK but there's no reason to have a weapon pointed at any peaceful protester

It doesn't really matter WHO he's pointing his weapon, but that he's pointing it at all.

You wouldn't mind it if the rifle was pointed about a foot to the side of their head?

Not quite as bad as Oakland, but give em time and people here putting up with that chit.

(5,231 posts)11. The weapon is a launcher
that fires OC and CS gas, or shoots beanbag or sponge grenades.

(19,253 posts)12. That's a tear gas launcher, not a rifle
Though, at point-blank range, it can still be lethal if shot to the face or chest.

Outrageous, and I am sure that Rep Ellison (MY representative) will get answers and results where other AA people treated this way cannot.
