IMO the smartest thing, that we could do, would be to admit a lot of refugees

It would only make our country stronger: an overwhelming majority of them would become the most loyal of citizens

And we would fire a shot heard round the world -- saying clearly that we really believe in the democracy and the tolerance that we so often express

of representative Democracy because he felt the world should be run by a meritorious elite, he was virulently racist and insanely antisemitic. His rhetoric about African Americans was horrific, his words about the Jews impossibly even worse.
I know he had a sharp wit, but nevertheless when he says he thinks the public is stupid, he means it fully and thinks in fact that people like himself should be in charge of government and in fact of the less intelligent masses.
He was perhaps the last funny conservative. But man was he conservative.

I remain wary of unconditional acceptance. There will be bad guys trying to sneak in, just like always.

place. I just don't buy into these people not being vetted enough to weed out potential terrorists. I live in a community with refugees and I'm more afraid of the areas of town with the confederate flags all over.

A month compared to years. And much less intense screening.

Like the 9/11 hijackers did.

But is there a call to tighten those? No!

Why?

Is relatively high unemployment, people who have given up and left the workforce, and low wages for most lower-skilled jobs, particularly in the black and other minority communities.

In order to get better employment and wage opportunities for blacks, in particular, we need to limit the influx of entry-level workers.

I understand the desire to be compassionate and agree something must be done to help them, but not at the cost of betraying some of the most loyal Democrat voters.

People vote their pocketbooks, and jobs are the most fundamental pocketbook issue there is.
