And laid off quite a few more in other departments. We are living in some bad times.

maybe union won't be such a dirty word and the common man will start putting the brakes on business/free trade, etc
More people will live in misery in the US unless the financial system is made responsible to the country.

Look on the bright side, that is enough layoffs to staff a BUNCH of new Walmarts and McDonalds at about 20 hours per week per employee. So they don't get benefits or anything. Which is another bonus, because ACA needs more people enrolled.

Woohoo!

but nope.... people are making more, so either McDs has greatly increased their pay rates or...well, you're wrong.

And for the broader scope.....

Make sure to use constant dollars and go back a few decades to get apples to apples.

8. Reality checks

1) Layoffs haven't been this low since the 70s, when the workforce was smaller by tens of millions

?uuid=7179dbfa-6849-11e5-8427-0015c588e0f6

2) Over 5 million workers each month change jobs (mass layoffs being a very small part of that number) and there are over 5.5 million job openings in the US right now.

fall witching day where they knew all the folks layed off would have exhausted transfers etc by the end of the year.

some of the employees would hit the bar the day after witching day cause they knew their jobs would at least be safe thru the holidays.

MSM is ignoring all the signs of an economic collapse.
Some of the financial sites are more forthcoming.
But reading sites that list job layoffs, housing starts, Baltic Dry Index, trucking stats are much more revealing.

It has been going on for about a month below the radar. I read where 8,000 were let go at Irvine and the VZ India company is hiring 6,000 in India.

Here is the link for the the layoff.com https://www.thelayoff.com/verizon-communications

Some were saying the very day they were RIF'd that there position showed up on the hiring site.

It maybe that they are offering a offering a severance package. I don't know what the rules are. The company I used to work for closed down a regional center with 1,500 employees gone and it did not make the local or any news anywhere.
