G: The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer, the middle class is getting poorer, and the people are spending their time fighting against other poor people. It's really sad.
Me: I know.
G: Are we getting poorer or richer?
Me: Well, were already pretty rich, arent we? We have this home. We have locally grown organic vegetables every week, and sometimes, we dont even eat them all. We have the internet, 7,000 TV channels, and clean water comes right out of our sink!
G: There are super rich people who have huge fountains of clean water and houses as big as my school, and they dont think they are rich enough. And they dont care who suffers so that they can have more.
Me: There are people like that, and they cause a lot of problems. But there are lots of good people too, rich and poor.
G: A lot of people around the world dont have clean water. Theres a difference between what you need and what you think you need.
Me: Thats true. And when you live in a place like this, where most people have clean water right in their own homes, you can forget what a luxury that is. When you see something every day, it can become kind of invisible. I think its important to stop and notice how awesome it is when we turn on the faucet, or open the refrigerator, or get under the covers in our warm beds.
G: If people really realized how much they have, maybe they would realize there is enough to share.
