Flag bearing Confederate stars and bars comes down at Santa Ana Civic Center (CA)

SANTA ANA – ... A ceremony Tuesday fulfilled a promise Santa Ana and county officials made this summer to rid county property of the Confederate symbol by replacing the 50 state flags that have flown at the Plaza of the Flags since the 1970s.

County officials and representatives from Orange County’s 34 cities helped raise the new flags Tuesday after a host of speakers praised the change and called for the elected officials who gathered to embody the symbols the flags represent ...

Not every Orange County city has an official flag, but all have emblems, so the county paid for flags to be made from them. Some still are being made; placeholder flags are filling in for now. The plaza also now flies flags of the County of Orange, California, the United States, the five branches of the armed services and the POW/MIA flag ...

Acknowledging that the Confederacy once existed is not the same as celebrating the economic advantages of slavery. Roni Dean-Burren called out McGraw-Hill for rewriting history when they called slaves "workers". She was bang on.

This? One step too far.

If they decide to fly the flags of the towns in their county, instead of the flags of the various US states, on their flagpoles, that's not exactly The Great Purge
