Slippery slope: Graham, Kasich Demand Equal Time on NBC

Now that GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump got to host Saturday Night Live, two of his rivals are demanding their equal time from NBC, as stipulated by the FCC's equal time rules. Lindsey Graham and John Kasich have filed requests for free time on NBC because, via his SNL gig, Trump got 12 minutes of free airtime. NBC has yet to respond, but FCC officials expect the network to challenge the requests on the basis that neither candidate is a "legally qualified candidate," via their lack of national presence compared to the party frontrunners.

The slippery slope isn't them asking for equal time - they're entitled to it. The slipper slope is the attempt to deny it because they're low in the polls compared to the front runners. Pardon me, but isn't that the whole point of equal time? What if Trump went on all the network nightly shows, thus becoming more well known and "more of a front runner" and the networks deny even more people under that criteria? That is the whole point of equal time - to minimize the skew.

oh, if you're not aware, equal time rule is an issue only for the air networks (ABC, NBC, CBS), not cable.
