About that Syrian refugee passport found at Paris attack scene

Since right-wingers are using this as an excuse to close all borders and turn back all refugees,
this is an interesting article in the Guardian:

But there are several reasons why it’s worth waiting until all the facts are known before making too strong a link between the attacks and the refugee crisis. The first is a general one: on at least 12 occasions, Isis has actually criticised refugees for fleeing to Europe. “For those who want to blame the attacks on Paris on refugees, you might want to get your facts straight,” wrote Aaron Zelin, an analyst of jihad, in an online commentary about the 12 outbursts. “The reality is, [Isis] loathes that individuals are fleeing Syria for Europe. It undermines [Isis’s] message that its self-styled caliphate is a refuge.” It’s therefore unlikely that the vast majority of Syrians fleeing to Europe are Isis supporters, since their actions are in obvious contravention of the group’s creed.

But I certainly doubt the higher end.

But I'm not an expert at these things, my goal isn't to scare everyone.

The GOP have a shot at going after non-whites/non-Christians and they're going to empty their magazines doing so now.

This is wise.

But, it's likely that "all the facts" may never be known.

And, while waiting, do you leave the borders open, or do you close them?

Some European countries seem to be modifying their open-border position.

I just heard on the radio that in New York City, some new counter-terrorism task force:
we will be seeing heavily armed cops in malls and restaurants...

lovely....

what could possible go wrong?

---
But you can't stop this terrorism- I don't care if they put all the rest of us in cages, the terrorists will still get in.
If someone is willing to die to accomplish his goal, he will succeed.

The only way to stop terrorism is to build a world, in which people have no motivation to become a terrorist.
And I fear it is too late for that.

It’s therefore unlikely that the vast majority of Syrians fleeing to Europe are Isis supporters, since their actions are in obvious contravention of the group’s creed.

That isn't the problem at all. The problem is having an open door policy and allowing in infiltators.
