FBI: Weapons missing after break-in at Army facility in Worcester

BOSTON (WHDH) -
The FBI says weapons are missing after a break-in at the Army Reserve Center in Worcester.

The FBI says it is working with State Police and Worcester Police to recover the weapons.

"There is no indication that these missing weapons are connected to any kind of terrorism threat whatsoever. Nevertheless, every effort will be made to recover these weapons immediately," the FBI said in a statement.

The weapons have been entered into a national database, according to the FBI. Federal, state and local law enforcement authorities have been alerted.

Gee, and I thought the FBI only recruited smart folks.

There is no indication that these missing weapons are connected to any kind of terrorism threat and no evidence to the contrary.

So that sentence is remarkably hollow, one way or the other.

rob a military facility in order to get firearms in America. Guns are all over the place here and there are much easier places/ways to acquire them than breaking into a military depot.

So, whoever did it, terrorists or criminals, it made sense.

These things are almost always inside jobs, with people who have had recent knowledge of the lay out and inventory.

The vaults are very, very secure structures. On every side, top and bottom. They have well made alarms that can't be disabled from the outside.

It would take a lot of time and noise to get inside.

Once inside the weapons are secured in racks that are both physically secured to the structure and also locked. Just breaking into one of them takes time.

It would have to be someone whit pretty solid knowledge of the setup and how the alarm works to pull that off, unless someone totally screwed up and had weapons store outside the vault.

Not a job for amateurs. I've been in the National Guard and the weapons were always heavily secured in a vault AND chained into racks and each 8-10 rifle rack required two strong people to move it.

them with to pump up anti-gun campaigns. Acquiring FULL-AUTOS has usually been accomplished in just the manner described in the OP.

You can't get 'em at Cabelas or Dick's Dixie Line Gun Shop.

Refreshing, when events inexorably bust MSM campaigns.
