7.2 Million Watched CBS Democratic Debate

Last edited Sun Nov 15, 2015, 08:44 PM - Edit history (1)

http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2015/11/15/tv-ratings-saturday-nov-14-2015/

A Democratic Party presidential debate on CBS drew the smallest audience thus far among the series of primary debates — not much surprise given its Saturday-night slot. It scored a 1.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 7.22 million viewers. By comparison, the first Democratic debate on CNN in October brought in a 3.4 rating and more than 15 million viewers.

(Just reposting separately as an FYI because I think the actual number might get lost in a larger thread.)

Update: Newer sources seem to be indicating a viewership of 8.5 million.

My advice for Bernie is wait for the last two debates. Don't come out on fire 5 days before Christmas. Go full positive. My 2 cents.

They look like a cross between a repetitive lizard brain level reality last-one standing show and a chat show where everyone hates each other.

We look like sensible adults discussing policy nuances.

The respective audience drawing and country governing abilities of those two contrasting appearances are definitely inversely related.

It is a contrast to be desired. Millions watch The Walking Dead. Few would want, or vote, to live in that world.

Other sources are now saying that there was a total viewership of 8.5 million with 1.2 million viewers streaming, so I guess the original 7.2 estimate was without streaming.

http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/11/15/democratic-debate-ratings-for-cbs/

CBS also provided live streaming of the debate and drew 1.2 million connections.

Since I didn't see any of it, I have no opinion based on what I saw, and everybody else's reaction seems to be based on whom they prefer, which is about as exciting as watching paint dry.
