http://www.mediaite.com/tv/carson-free-college-will-hasten-the-destruction-of-the-nation/In a speech at Liberty University Wednesday, Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson reinforced the need for the United States to have a well-informed populace while simultaneously dismissing the notion that government should provide free college education....
If they dont really understand the financial situation of the country, Carson continued, and somebody comes along and says, Free college for everybody! Theyll say, Oh what a wonderful thing!'
They have no idea that all youre talking about is hastening the destruction of the nation, Carson concluded.
This isnt the first time Carson spoke about his position on higher education. (82,849 posts)5. The nation as Ben Carson envisions it
As Ben Carson envisions it, the nation doesn't need to be too smart or too educated, and certainly the powers that be in his ideal nation keep a tight rein on just who has access to higher education. Too many of the wrong sorts get too educated, and it might challenge his lofty perch, which was achieved through . . . access to higher education.
You can see the danger.
