Dating apps Tinder and Grindr are wildly popular, but they’re just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to booking an assignation through an iPhone. Meet 3nder (pronounced “thrinder”), a dating app for singles and couples to coordinate threesomes.
The streamlined app works much the way Tinder does, except the potential end result is three-ways. Users swipe in different directions to find a partner or partners nearby with shared desires. Every user is Facebook authenticated but can choose an alternate name.
In a thrilling and awkward twist, 3nder apparently allows you to see which other users one is already connected to. (I am afraid to test this by downloading the app and discovering the profile of a wacky aunt.) With “Incognito Mode,” this feature can be blocked. Rest assured that 3nder users can completely hide their identity should they so wish....
London-based Dimo Trifonov created it in early 2014 when a saucy conversation with his girlfriend revealed the possibility of a threesome. Trifonov got so busy with his new app, he never got around to the sex. As of last week, however, Trifonov and 3nder now have $500,000 in venture capital funding.
