Natural World/Ecosystem Hidden Casualty Of Mid East & Other Wars.

What we do not see with all these wars are the casualties in the natural world. Think of all the wild animals in those area that are killed directly or contaminated by the chemicals of war. Even though that part of the world is desert there is still a lot of wildlife and other living things in the area. There are also fertile areas where all manor of flora and fauna thrive.

These wars not only destroy lives and livelihoods, they also destroy ecosystems that make life possible in the first place. Plus water and air are degraded as well.

The real tragedy of all this war is much larger than we see.

That's been a continuing problem during African conflicts.

However, it's not completely one-sided, I vaguely recall an article back in the 90s from Natural History mag that suggested wildlife actually did better in central America during the civil conflicts there.
