Charles Koch: ‘We Are Doling Out Welfare for the Wealthy’

(Edit: I know this should be in the humor section but here it is.)

According to a New York Times poll released earlier this year, most Americans believe only the wealthy and well-connected can get ahead these days, leaving everyone else to fall farther behind.

I find this very disturbing – because they are right.

For most of this nation’s history, our country has been characterized by opportunity, upward mobility and personal freedom. But today, America is hurtling headlong in the opposite direction, away from a free society and towards a two-tiered society.

Consequently, our country is increasingly divided between the “haves” and the “have-nots.” As the gulf between these two gets larger, we are creating a permanent underclass while doling out welfare for the wealthy.

screwed themselves. With their greed they killed off the middle class and when they did that, their source of income.

I have devoted most of my life to this cause. For more than 50 years, I have sought to understand the principles that make free societies the most successful at enabling widespread well-being for everyone – especially the least advantaged. These principles include dignity, respect, tolerance, equality before the law, free speech and free markets, and individual rights.

Remember, "joke" rhymes with "Koch."

That is, destroying the very foundation of this nation and replacing it with the very thing that caused us to break away from the Brits: tyranny of the rich, corporations, and the powerful.

He knows the words that sell soap... or in his case, the words that sell lassiez faire energy policy combined with tax cuts for the rich.

The solution is clear: Government must stop creating barriers to opportunity for so many Americans, especially the least advantaged. We must end government’s ability to enrich the well-connected few.

It almost sounds like how the Rockefellers, Gettys and other very wealthy thought. Back then they did not mind the high taxes on the extremely wealthy. I think it prevented some of the "mildly" rich to ever attain their level of "obscene" wealth.

The uninformed brainwashed evil channel viewers are so far gone I don't know if they'll ever come to their senses.

My husband works with a guy who is so far gone he reused to read an article from the SF Chronicle on the warming of our Oceans and its affects and he told my husband the chronicle is liberal mainstream garbage. The crab season was cancelled in the SF bay because of neurotoxins in the crabs from the warmed ocean temps but in this guy's mind it is all lies. A great portion of Americans are like this guy. He drives over 1 1/2 - 2 hours to/ from work everyday and gets a steady dose of hate radio. He works for a union company and thinks the CEO deserves their exorbitant pay. He is luckiy to have a union good paying job, that has paid sick, vacation, medical and dental with only his high school education. It just boggles my mind. Idiocracy is a reality.

They are all trying to obfuscate the reality that they are the enemy he is referring to.

He may actually hear the pitchforks being sharpened.
That's the only reason he would write something like this.
