(11,443 posts)I run into this all the time. Vets and even active duty military who vote for someone to destroy their lives rather than someone who wants to help them. You can't get through to them. The Fox fake news and hate radio jocks have them totally brainwashed.

(50,562 posts)We were scattered out all over post - our barracks were in the DIVARTY area, our offices were down by the hospital, our vault was in the DISCOM area and the motor pool was between the offices and the vault.

Proud of my shipmates and what we did during those four years. We didn't. Drop any bombs but we dropped plenty of location buoys to help refugees...

(9,901 posts)It was almost creepy how something that big could just f'ing get up and go.
As I recall we were on a RedEx around 80-81, AW declared a nuclear blast and we all went ass to the blast. My ship was at our max of 33 knots, and the carrier (Alpha Whisky) just flat out blew by us!

I don't have any pics on the computer, need to work on that for next time so y'all can look at my skinny little butt.
And in honor of my Daddy, who marched in our local parade today, in uniform: US Army, Korea, 1952-54, and many years of National Guard service before and after.

(2,550 posts)Trained as Naval gunfire spotter.
Stationed in Hawaii (@ CINCPAC FLT, Camp Smith) when it became a state.
Saw no combat but was an xlnt spotter.
Many trips aboard ships from Pearl to Kahoolawe, a gov owned island used specifically for target practice.
Navy had to qualify ships accuracy annually.
Company was half Naval gunfire/half Marine air spotters and I had experience in both.
As a teenager there spending time at the beach we were also known as 'navel' spotters...lol
