Not sure if anyone just saw that ad pre the debate.
I'll try to find the link.
First time I've seen this shit, apparently it's been around for a while. What crap.

(3,447 posts)If your answer is 'no' (and it is), perhaps you might consider why you are so quick to put those words in my mouth.

(38,458 posts)Just asked a question based on your answer.

(3,447 posts)What was implied is that the blanket statement/thought that it is somehow impossible for it to happen is likewise stupid. It is possible, but not likely. It's not what I would consider even a 'strong' possible. But mocking it, with Europe currently standing as an example, is silly. Nothing more, and nothing less.
Here we go.

(3,447 posts)...perhaps you should hold off on the accusations until there's a little more evidence, neh? If for no other reason than courtesy. Not that you'd be in bad company if you didn't, I suppose, since a whole slew of people ignored me long ago, but that's neither here nor there.
Either way, meta subthreads don't really entertain me. I'm going to sign off of this one. Have a good night.

(51,076 posts)and both times I called the 1-800 number and chewed the person who answered the phone out up one side and down the other and demanded they remove my name and address from their mailing list. Explaining I'm a 15 month Vietnam Vet and have no guns and have no plans to ever have any guns and further more I DO NOT agree with anything the nra stands for or says and I don't want their bullshit in my mail box. It made me feel good both times. Its been over a year since the last call so maybe they got the message.

(4,462 posts)One of the reasons is exactly the arrogance, elitism and bigoted, condescending regionalism of many in the gun control movement and characterized by statements like your post.
For reference, the man in the video is Marcus Luttrel. He's a highly decorated war hero, and his story was the basis for the film Lone Survivor. He's quite the contrast to your gun control mode, a NYC Republican billionaire surrounded by armed guards.

Your main premise, being unsupported by objective evidence, is merely an allegation rather than a response. That said, I do realize the mental convenience bumper-sticker philosophies allow the irrational thinker... hence, its trending popularity.

(50,559 posts)The modern-day American politician is COMPLETELY under the control of the NRA. The NRA could demand a "gun mandate" - like an Obamacare insurance mandate, but yo'd have to own a gun instead - and get one. They are THAT powerful.

(12,194 posts)Assault Weapons Ban proposed in Wisconsin
Under the bill, whoever transports, purchases, possesses, or transfers a semiautomatic assault weapon is guilty of a felony and may be fined up to $10,000, sentenced to a term of imprisonment of up to six years, or both.
http://legis.wisconsin.gov/assembly/78/subeck/media/1149/15-3635_1-002.pdf
This bill would ban most semi-automatic rifles, some handguns, and doesn't have a grandfather clause, so if enacted would amount to confiscation. Somehow, that doesn't seem to have come from a "modern-day American politician COMPLETELY under the control of the NRA" to me.
How about you?
jmowreader
(50,559 posts)How long DID you look for that clearly unconstitutional bill?

This video is much more enlightening than anything the NRA has to say. Those cocksuckers have more American blood on their hands than ISIS and Al Qaeda combined.
