Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson's campaign posted a spate of fake news reports carrying the names of real news outlets to his Facebook page Tuesday afternoon in a further effort to make light of media scrutiny about his biography.Carson's campaign has attempted to downplay inconsistencies in his biography after Politico reported that he falsely and repeatedly said he'd turned down a scholarship from the elite U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Carson's campaign acknowledged that he never applied or was accepted to the academy.

(82,849 posts)Says it all the time, in fact. The Republicans were terribly up in arms after Benghazi when they said that President Obama had failed to call the attack an act of terror. Oh, the Republic tottered on the abyss, it did, because of that semantic oversight by the commander in chief. It was so vital, and the slip was so egregious, that Mitt Romney even bought it up during one of the presidential debates. Obama had failed, failed!, to call the attack in Benghazi an act of terror.
Until it was pointed out that, indeed, the President had condemned the terrorist act in those very words the morning after.
Comes now Dr. Ben Carson, who claims he was offered a scholarship to West Point by none other than General William Westmoreland himself. Okay, there are just a few things wrong with the story, but gee whiz! What's the big deal? The actual words aren't all that important; just accept that Dr. Ben Carson is a superior human being. That's what Dr. Ben Carson says, and since Dr. Ben Carson is a superior human being, why don't you just believe what Dr. Ben Carson says?
