So that they'll be raptured, and would try to facilitate that process if put into a position of power.
Michele Bachman and Mike Huckabee, for instance.

Add Cruz and Palin to that list too.
They are Domionists, they are delusional and they are deadly serious.

Christians look at the glass as half empty.

This is a temporary world. Even though there are beautiful aspects of it, Heaven is MUCH more beautiful. The Earth is only here to strip and pillage because, hey, they already blew it in the Garden of Eden. After God ordered them out and to thus have to create their own crops, wealth, commerce etc...the game changed. And on top of that, they know that its all going to shit anyways, and they are going to get scooped up just in time so they are covered.

Why do they use the magnificent creation that is the only world given to us like a toilet, not a treasure?

In some minds, as long as a god created the universe, then ultimately, it's on that god to save the world or not.

If your beliefs tell you that the world was created by a god for the dominion of humans, and too many people do see it that way, then that relieves them of responsibility for protecting that world.

We hear it all the time from the right.

If so, and if we Love God, shouldn't we be good stewards of his creation?

Anyway, that's the argument this agnostic uses for bible-thumping "conservatives" who oppose environmental regulations.

Or, from another perspective, there's a reason all the ancient pagan and native religions and spiritual practices considered Earth the Mother...the provider and sustainer of life. So why are we killing our mother?

Modern people can learn a few things from ancient wisdom.

If we married both these cares, it would be a path to turning the world around.

I wonder about my co-workers.... "Who's more important? The Koch Brothers? Or, the back-up free safety to the Pittsburgh Steelers?" Half of them wouldn't know the first, but tell you all about the second, ad-nauseam.

God made this place for us to fuck up...when we die we go to Heaven, so this place doesn't matter. Don't you just love religion?
