Texas troopers ticketing Hispanic drivers as white - 'playing games' with racial profiling data

Texas troopers ticketing Hispanic drivers as white
Senator says DPS 'playing games' with racial profiling data

"It's very disturbing," Natarajan said. "What it shows is that, there either seems to be a complete lack of training on the part of DPS officers and other law enforcement officers about how to report people's race. Or there is deliberate, sort of trying to not follow the policy if they have been trained properly on how to report the race of the drivers whom they stop."

so that the trooper would not need to determine it, and the stats would pick it up automatically?

Sometimes it's not entirely obvious. For example, if I didn't know that George Zimmerman was Hispanic I might have assumed that he is white.

sign, have boxes for your race. I do not think you can put it on the drivers license as that would be racist.

On Edit, It used to be on the DL's but that was determined to be racist.
