There was a rejection but also a shrewd manipulation of corporate media. The Panthers and Yippies were pros at denouncing the Establishment while using its media as a vehicle to carry a rejectionistic message.

It often wants to go beyond documenting. It wants to be the scoreboard even while it is a cheerleader for one side or the other.

Re-inventing or going around the traditional media happens in revolutions and it happens when media is weaponized against those it covers.
