"13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi"

Oh yes, there's a movie. Anyone else hear about this?
Of course I saw it advertised during the NASCAR race yesterday.

Gonna' guess it's about as "fair & balanced" as American Sniper, and about as entertaining as Kirk Cameron's "Saving Christmas".

“13 Hours” won’t come out for a few more months, so I can’t be sure that this movie will be terrible. That being said, I’m still pretty sure this movie will be terrible. And not only will it be bad, it will add yet another layer of stupidity to the already insufferable and seemingly interminable political fight over the Benghazi attacks.

There is an audience for this garbage.

so I don't think it will be too right-wing. It's based on the book "13 Hours" by Mitchell Zuckoff.

But I do think it will be right wing; it will paint a world in which the military option and soldiers are heroes while ambassadors and civilians are cowardly betrayers. That's how these stories go.

not made by Kirk Cameron films, or the people who brought us "Bibleman" so it may not be as loaded as you think.

The only thing i'm curious about is will t mention Hillary Clinton by name - my guess is no, but I could be wrong.

I think it depends on how crummy the movie is. If it's really crummy and likely to be a loser, they might throw clinton in there knowing the fox news will defend it on the grounds that "the main stream media doesn't want you to know the truth, but Bay is brave enough to say it."

Or to put it another way - I think they would happily destroy anybody if they thought there was profit in it. The risk reward ratio though has to be very favorable (high reward, very low risk).

The movie is directed by Michael Bay, better known for Transformers movies and Texas Chainsaws and the ilk. When I saw the scene where one guy says to another, you are ordered to stand down, I just had a sickening feeling it was designed to be a hit piece on Hilary Clinton. So, I looked for reviews of the movie and found this in The Guardian (UK):

The action film, which stars John Krasinski, will recount the real life story of the attack, which resulted in the deaths of two diplomats, including the US ambassador to Libya, and two CIA security contractors. “While the events have been the subject of continuous heated debate, few have heard or seen the story told from the perspective of these brave men because it has been largely lost amidst the political back and forth,” said Erwin Stoff, a producer of the film.

The issue has taken on an added dimension in recent weeks, after claims emerged that the House select committee on Benghazi was being used by Republicans specifically to harm Clinton’s campaign.

The script is said to include a pointed tag line at the end which mentions that a CIA base chief who tried to delay the contractors received an agency medal.

“Republicans have already made clear they will use this movie to revive theories discredited by their own party’s investigators to continue their admittedly partisan attacks against Hillary Clinton,” David Brock told The New York Times. Brock is the author of The Benghazi Hoax and founder of an outside group that defends Clinton.
