Really, America. The pizza guy last time was good for a laugh. We're still getting a few yucks out of Sarah Palin. But how on Earth is Ben Carson even still in the race for President? Just to make Donald Trump look sane? What the fuck is going on with this country?

(42,862 posts)Is that even technically possible at this late stage? Would he be able to qualify to be on the ballots? Or would he have to run a write-in campaign?

Okay, that's pushing it, but I immensely detest Romeny's arrogance, and the thought of him running again makes me nauseous. The best part of that last election, was seeing that disheveled picture of him pumping gas after the election.

(55,981 posts)wrote. It's clear to me that the Republicon Party has been manipulated to this point for a reason. It effectively gives us a single party system. The Oligarchy only has to buy control of the leadership of the Democratic Party to control the country. The Progressive Wing of the Democratic Party has been disenfranchised.

(53,235 posts)shit, like they all do, since a person can't justify slave labor, which is what the GOP's billionaire class wants ultimately.
Voters definitely deserve smart, sincere candidates, but the whole government and its voting process is rigged against us. Only a revolution can change it, and only the young can incite a revolution. But the PTB has made sure they're all drugged up on their prescription drugs and under-educated and many hungry and homeless. The PTB are very proud of their accomplishments.

(10,109 posts)Call me as crazy as the Dr., but I still believe the establishment will get their man in there and the general election will be two candidates so far entrenched in their bubbles they couldn't tell you the price of a gallon of milk in the last twenty years.

(19,537 posts)I think many of them know that Republicans especially Teapublican crazies that are running now with the remnants of that parthy will not win the White House. And therefore they in effect WANT a Republican nominee that too many are afraid of winning the presidency as a way to champion their "choice" of who they push money to in the Democratic Primaries as being the only candidate to keep us from disaster if the Republican wins.
Money is now behind Clinton in this regard, as they don't control the top two like they did in 2008 when they owned both Clinton and Obama then, and at least probably "owned" Edwards' message to try and draw away progressive votes in to a sink hole that they would have tanked when they had him pull out of the race right before Super Tuesday, rather than giving anyone besides Obama or Clinton more air time in subsequent debates after it got to be a three person race when the primaries started.
Now they know that they can't control the candidates that will be running until the end, when the number one contender to Hillary is Bernie who they don't control like they did Obama in 2008. As long as Bernie is a threat, I'm thinking they are trying to use a fear card by painting a real bad possibility of a Republican nominee, rather than a "beatable" traditional Republican nominee, which might lead many to take more of a chance on voting for Bernie from their point of view.
Be afraid! BE VERY AFRAID! That is the big money donors' message now!

National elections are for show and distraction of the people.
Not good (that one of the two major political parties cannot float a serious candidate and worse that a GOP candidate could conceivably win the election).

(21,054 posts)OK, on the DU, no matter who we are currently supporting, we ARE informed...and we DO read, research and analyze.
Talk to the average person some time...a simple question, for example: What are the purposes of the 3 branches of government? Most cannot even name the three branches let alone the purpose. So I never expect anything above the cartoon comprehension level from the general public. That, IMO, explains the clowns leading the Repuke parade.
