(39,215 posts)two daughters were walking in the woods. A car comes by shooting out of the window at a deer. They slowed down to see if they got the deer but couldn't see it so drove on. As it turned out the deer was fatally wounded - my grandson trailed it after he got the girls back to the car and had to finish the killing so the deer would not suffer anymore.
Grandson said he wished he had his gun with him and he would have shot their tires out.

(32,714 posts)In WWII he was in the Battle of the Bulge. I asked him if he ever took friendly fire. He said yes, so I asked what he did. He said they were our planes, but we shot back anyway.

(39,215 posts)it would be kind of second nature to fire back.

(19,258 posts)If he missed and wounded or killed one of the passengers (which isn't hard to imagine on a moving vehicle), he'd be facing manslaughter charges. Even if he did just hit the tires, he could be charged with reckless discharge of a firearm at the very least.
Just write down the license plate and let law enforcement do their job.

Uncle: "Dammit..."
Glad he's going to be OK.

(112,371 posts)Sometimes it is possible to miss seeing the forest because of the trees. One of the other hosts made a valid point which prompted reconsideration by the group.

Not that uncommon...It's the whole all camo thing IMHO. I always wear Blaze Orange in a 360 deg pattern even when not required by law, safety first.
Speaking of turkey hunting.
I'm still waiting on parts for my sons Savage 24F OU turkey gun to come in. Have to repair the 223 extractor before we can take it in the field again. It's limping along, but the extractor is pretty eat up and requires some help to get the brass out.

(38,469 posts)Of course Maryland is not Texas where rich repubs like Cheney get away with this behavior.

(19,258 posts)And since hunters can't wear blaze orange, it's easier to mistakenly shoot another turkey hunter.
This is the reason I always wear blaze orange head-to-toe whenever I walk in the woods anytime turkey season is in effect.

(38,469 posts)in pursuit of a turkey, camo or no camo. If there are 2 hunters they should be a safe distance apart. And shouldn't a hunter identify his target before firing?

(1,958 posts)and even wear face paint. Dcoys are used and turkey calls are used to draw the toms to the decoys. It is never a good idea to attempt to stalk a turkey. First, you'll fail because they have good vision. Second if your stalking through the woods using your turkey, some idiot might shoot you.
