What about the teacher in this math class that called escalated this whole matter in the first place by calling police.
Did he (at least I think it was a he) really expect a cop to come, brutalize a student, and then breezily have the students go back to running quadradic equations?
I don't know because we haven't heard from him, or anything about him.

(56,582 posts)The teacher had a class to teach and the girl wouldn't put her phone away. Rather than escalate it himself he called in the resource officer, who went absolutely apeshit. I don't really agree with the complaints about the teacher; this was the cop's fault.

(81,869 posts)The teacher in a high school class wanted it off/away. If that's what the teacher wants, that's what the kid should do. Accepting her insubordination is even more disruptive to the class.

(10,849 posts)Walked by the girl and quietly asked if she was having a phone emergency. If no, the teacher could have kindly asked her to put it away. If a teacher cannot control his/her class, they need more training. I recommend Fred Jones.

(10,849 posts)It is also admitting that you cannot control your class. Kindness works wonders with children.

(3,595 posts)Same instructions, if there is disruption, call security and don't involve yourself. Security people were liked by the kids and it never went beyond being taken out of the class and into the office.
In my 6 years at the school, the cop never got involved.

(56 posts)There's not a lot of people willing to take that job in that school, apparently psychos with really bad career histories are the only ones they can demote low enough to work there..... the teacher has only two options, use physical force as shown in the other not-so-famous teacher-student fight video from the same school, or to call the officer/hired goon. Prepare yourself for the onslaught of "Oppression by Goon resulting in lucrative GoFundMe campaign" videos.....
