Did the GOP debate candidates just use the media as an excuse to dodge answering hard questions?

I'm sure this is one of those moments RNC Chair Reince Priebus was crying about following the CNBC Republican debate. Sen. Ted Cruz decided to use up all of his time whining about the nonexistent, so-called "liberal media' when asked about his desire to shut down the government rather than compromise on a budget deal by moderator Carl Quintanilla.

After he'd filibustered and used the time to grandstand and call the media and Democrats names, he was upset they didn't want to give him more time to finally answer their question.

Seems to me he diverted attention from the question by changing subjects and complaining about the media.

And Christie's whine about talking about Fantasy Football was shallow too. The problem is not just 'Fantasy Football', but a demonstration of how corruption and cheating occurs in ANY endeavour when vast amounts of money are flying around with no external supervision or regulation. The 'Fantasy Football' insider trading scandal is just a microcosm of the derivatives trading crap that brought our economy to its knees. The fact that Christie wouldn't look at the deeper implications shows that he fundamentally doesn't see such scandals as a problem. He doesn't care if people cheat others to become wealthy, no matter how many people are hurt... He just wants donations from those people after they become rich.

before the debate started. The Federalist had a piece attacking Harwood long before the debate stated. That was the plan. Go after CNBC because the stupid ReTHUG scumbags knew they could not respond on matters financial.

That being said, the truly smart people know how to answer stupid questions. Stupid people don't.

And the whining shows them as weak.

In Esquire, Chalie Pierce described it as "hock(ing) a loogie" at any standard RW boogieman (MSM, Hillary, Big Government, "socialism"*, etc.) to play to the crowd.

*remember, "socialism" is what today's Republicans call the sort of economic system we used to call "capitalism" during the Cold War
