Ever since this guy was first elected to the US Senate, the media has never shut up about how impressive he is and how the Democratic party is supposedly afraid to face him in a general election. Why? I absolutely do not see what is so remarkable about this bozo in any way.
He's an utter lightweight who hasn't accomplished a single thing in his political career. He has the worst attendance record of any senator. He's running a totally shallow campaign with a superficial message. That "candidate of tomorrow" nonsense he keeps using against Hillary can be broken down to "I'm physically younger than her" and that's it. It certainly doesn't apply to his positions, which include banning abortion even in cases of rape and incest and continuing our 50+ year embargo on Cuba. The same tired, outdated ideas of politicians 30 years older than him. He brings absolutely nothing new to the table policy-wise so he can take his "candidate of tomorrow" bullshit and shove it.
His only real strengths, I suppose, are that he's Hispanic and he supposedly is charismatic (I've never been impressed with him as a speaker, personally). But Hispanics aren't going to overlook a candidate's shitty positions just because he has the same physical traits as them. Women didn't flock to Sarah Palin because of her gender and Latinos won't flock to the Waterboy because of his skin color.
Someone please enlighten me about the aura surrounding this empty suit. I've never seen it and I doubt I ever will.

(16,254 posts)I thought I was getting super critical in my old age, but I have found no good qualities I can tie to this candidate...absolutely none. Each time I see him speak, I remember how he tried to sneak in that bottle of water without being caught by a camera in operation. WHAT did he think would be the outcome? If he can't figure out something so simple, how could he run this country?

(103,856 posts)Repubs always look for tokens, so they can hopefully trick low information independents & dems into voting for their lackeys..
The powers that be, in their party , are (for the most part) narrow minded, racist, bigoted, xenophobic, misogynists, who wear their faux/religion/ideologies on their sleeves, but they always put their public face on tv...in the form of their "surrogates"..
Sadly, it's not hard to find surrogates..
Most of the minorities they claim to love would be nothing special in the democratic party, but in the Republican party, they can become super-stars..writing books, getting famous on tv, parlaying their success into big bucks.. There are always people willing to sell out..

(9,314 posts)That is considered an attribute in the Republican party. Obviously, this type of person just does as he or she is told. See George W. Bush*, for example.

No doubt about his (craven) ambition. . .but what else? I don't see anything else there.
