(42,779 posts)Concerts. Theatrical productions. All sorts of events sell tickets weeks or even months in advance. Selling tickets in advance makes it possible for people who can't spend days in line to be among those first to see the movie if that's what they want.

(25,586 posts)My wife, my kids, and I all live and breathe Star Wars. It's been a big deal to me since the first film came out when I was 7.
I buy Morrissey tickets months in advance for concerts that he usually bails on without qualms, so buying tickets for something like this seems perfectly natural.

(465 posts)The ticket takers at the door will be so overwhelmed by the crowds that you won't need a ticket, you'll be able to just walk briskly into the theater.
