The chairman of the House committee investigating the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012 pushed back against claims that the probe targeting then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's handling of the attacks was politically motivated.

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said Sunday on CBS's "Face the Nation" that he has told Republican colleagues to "shut up talking about things that you don't know anything about. And unless you're on the committee, you have no idea what we have done, why we have done it and what new facts we have found."

Clinton is slated to testify before the committee on Thursday. She called the panel"a partisan arm of the Republican National Committee" and said she did not know what to expect from Thursday's hearing.

Democrats have long accused the House Select Committee on Benghazi of carrying out a drawn-out, costly and overtly political investigation, but some of the more recent accusations have been leveled by Republicans themselves.

Revealed in his thirteen page letter to Cummings (also released to the press) dated Oct. 7, 2015 what they are focusing on. Hillary Clinton and what she did leading up to the invasion of Libya and overthrow of Gaddahfi. They seem to be particularly interested in her connection with Sidney Blumenthal. She used him as a sounding board and he gave her a lot of advice. He along with others also had financial interests. Nothing in that letter to Cummings mentions the night in Benghazi, but the committee is going to blame Hillary, saying she was too focused on politics and personal interests and ignored the security issue and requests for additional security forces. That little touch at the end with the UNNECESSARY redactions clause was on added on purpose so the RIGHT WING PRESS would run with it. Within hours, they were printing stories about Hillary outing a CIA operative...where have we heard that before? From the Administration who DELIBERATELY outed a CIA agent and NOW they are OUTRAGED? ALL Gowdy does in the first few pages is attack Cummings and claim the DEMOCRATS are the ones leaking committee info. REALLY? We should believe its Dems leaking all the NEGATIVE info on Hillary to the NYT's, LOL. Gowdy's letters reveal a very petty and paranoid individual. He is very upset that he is challenged and wants total autonomy. Gowdy has an agenda to destroy Hillary and wants to drag it out as close to the election as he can. Now he is very upset and scared his scheme will fail.
