Afghanistan, a Perpetual Haunting

Back in the run-up to the '08 election we often asked who in their right mind would want to step into the bloody mess left by W.

John McCain, in the course of his presidential campaign, stated repeatedly that he knew how to get Bin Laden -- how to get rid of Al Qaeda -- how to win the war -- that he promised to do that IF elected. Well, here we go again.

One thing we can be sure of is that there will be no shortage of candidates fulminating about how they would deal with the situation. We will most assuredly hear about how much better it would be under their guidance, and that they know, better than anyone else, exactly what is necessary.

Message to candidates: If you really do have that solution but you are choosing to hold it hostage unless or until you win election, fuck you.

Given the US now openly sides with Al Qaeda in Syria I'm sure they can make the pivot. nt frizzled Oct 2015 #2

1. kill everyone in Afghanistan and start over.
2. leave, and recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government when they take over.
