It is very contextual and I think most here would not want someone that fits the first and third definition to be the only ones we consider to be candidates for the top office of our country. The second definition is also dependent on how "capitalism" is defined as well, which for many, when it is unregulated, is more of a process that screws so many of us who are not the 1%.

Like socialism it needs to be looked at contextually on how it fits within the framework it is being used. "Socialism" the way it was practiced by communist dictators like Joseph Stalin, or Adolf Hitler defined it in their systems (even if many right wingers like the Koch brothers and Prescott Bush wanted to work with regimes like those in the past), is hardly the same kind of socialism that Bernie tries to define here, which is more about how we put in valuable "socialist" pieces of our government like Social Security and Medicare in it, than how we run a dictatorial government that gets associated with that definition. Thom Hartmann and Sam Saxe this morning noted that perhaps rather than reflecting on Denmark (and other nordic "Democratic Socialist" countries, who probably should be looked at a lot more to help guide us towards better improvements to our system), that Bernie should reflect on the many uses of socialism like social security that the right has tried to push out but who have served many of us and valued by many of us, regardless of our political persuasion.

Capitalism that isn't regulated appropriately has lead to financial collapses like right before the last depression, and what we are seeing now, and should be taken to task. Capitalism that is appropriately regulated (despite the objections of many that try to be involved with it today to regulation), can be used to harness the desire for profit so that it benefits all of us collectively a lot more and rewards those that come up with newer ideas that benefit us all. But only if it is appropriately regulated by all of us and not "regulated by Wall Street" the way Bernie so aptly described our government today.
