Under GOP Plans Children Get Ready To Pay For YOUR PARENTS' Longer Term Care.
I have posted this information in the past and every family MUST understand the huge risks turning over Medicaid to all families in the country. REMEMBER THIS - BEFORE FEDERAL MEDICAID FAMILIES OF PEOPLE IN NURSING HOMES WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BILLS. And here is how it used to work.
Before Midicaid if a loved one ended up in a nursing home the family was liable for the bill. At that time the states could assess families and even the children of parents. That meant that BASED ON FAMILY income the children could be forced to pay a monthly fee for the bill. So if the GOP got its way the CHILDREN of the long term care recipient could have a LIEN filed against THEIR property and income to pay for the long term care.
So if you think college debt is a burden wait for the bill for long term care if parents end up in a nursing home.
The reason I know about this UNDISCLOSED result of Medicaid going to the states is that my mother's sisters were assessed fees when my grandmother went into a nursing home before Medicaid. My mother was out of state at the time so she was not assessed. With the new GOP who knows you could be in one state and have to pay in another if they have their way.
Presently Medicaid PROTECTS the assets of the children and offspring. ONLY the parents' assists are vulnerable.
Plus the GOP has tightened the rules so that PARENTS CANNOT GIVE ANY OF THEIR ASSETS TO THE CHILDREN. If the parents give any assets to the children and end up going into a nursing home IF THE ASSETS DO NOT MEET LOOK BACK RULES, these assets could be CLAWED BACK.
If Medicaid goes to the states THE CHILDREN OF LONG TERM CARE recipients could be SCREWED financially under GOP plans.
THERE WILL BE NO MEDICAID IF IT GOES TO THE STATE PERIOD.
These GOPPERS are a bunch of pathological liars.
