Barrett Releases Pre-Debate Ad In Wisconsin Recall, tell the truth about the John Doe investigation

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has a new ad in the Wisconsin recall, looking ahead to tomorrow’s debate with Gov. Scott Walker — with the Democratic nominee seeking to gain points on Walker through the ongoing investigation against former aides.

The announcer says: “An important message for the people of Wisconsin: Tomorrow’s debate between Tom Barrett and Scott Walker is an opportunity for Governor Walker to tell the truth about the John Doe criminal investigation.

“Governor Walker, will you release all emails, sent and received, between you and the people in your office, who have been charged and pled guilty to criminal wrongdoing? Will you tell us, who is funding your legal defense, which has already paid more than $100,000 to criminal lawyers?

“Two simple questions — to get the answers we deserve.”

May 2012

At least 90,000 absentee ballots have been issued by election clerks across Wisconsin in advance of the June 5 recall targeting Gov. Scott Walker and five others.

That is far above the 68,000 that were issued before the May 8 recall primary. About 230,000 absentee ballots were returned in the 2010 governor’s race.

The numbers released Wednesday by the Government Accountability Board include absentee ballots that will be sent back in mail as well as those voters fill out in person.
