LINCOLN Nebraskas first pipeline routing law took 15 days to create and four years to gather dust.
State lawmakers passed the Major Oil Pipeline Siting Act in 2011 during a 15-day special session called to reroute the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. But the law has never been used.
Now the latest twist in the seven-year pipeline saga has pulled the law off the shelf.
Possibly as soon as this week, TransCanada Corp. will file an application with the Nebraska Public Service Commission to seek route approval for an $8 billion pipeline that would move 830,000 barrels of oil per day from western Canada to a terminal at Steele City, Nebraska.
