N.D. white supremacist Cobb buys up property in Nebraska

By Lauren Donavan, Bismarck Tribune on Sep 29, 2015 at 6:29 p.m.

RED CLOUD, Neb. -- A white supremacist who was jailed and ordered to stay away from Leith after terrorizing the town appears to be repeating his tactics in small towns in Nebraska.

Craig Cobb purchased three delinquent tax properties at a Webster County sheriff’s sale Sept. 23, and residents there are wondering why his North Dakota probation officer allowed him to make the trip.

Cobb is living in Sherwood, N.D., near Canada, while serving a four-year probation for felony terrorizing with a gun, the end of a bizarre few months when he flew Nazi flags in front of his house in Leith and painted swastikas on his trees and buildings.

The town of Red Cloud, Neb., held an emergency town hall meeting Tuesday to look into its legal options for dealing with the situation, said resident Mike Goebel. "Two of the properties Cobb purchased for $25 and $100 are in Red Cloud, while another worth $3,410 is in the nearby town of Inavale." According to Webster County Attorney Sarah Bockstadter "anyone with an interest in the property can redeem it first, or someone can make a higher offer when it’s in court."

Let's make bids.

The nearest airport is in Grand Island, over 60 miles away, and only with flights to DFW on American plus a couple on Allegiant. Amtrak is a bit closer in Hastings, 45 miles out. We'd have to get an ethanol-fueled bus going, I guess.
