dumb congress
There was an interesting story on whether congress was becoming dumber judging by the quality of their speeches or use of language. Well has not been spoken in this country since the 1700's but thats to be expected. We are not English and we live under very different circumstances than the English do or did. Language reflects society.
However, the answers (which in yahoo im sorry to say are mostly rude, down right silly and ignorant there was one point made. If the congress is dumb or just acting (my view) then it is the voters who are responsible for putting these clowns in congress in the first place and continue re electing them.
I think that on the contrary most congressman are not necessarily well educated or knowledgeable (remember freedom fries? That must have sent many a Frenchman scurrying to the nearest forest to hide his shame) but they are cunning and know how to enrich themselves. They are also expect (especially on the republican side) at bringing up pointless issues which do no one any harm (homosexual marriage etc) and get the votes that way.
Most Americans do not vote based on issues or research - they vote on appearances and razzle dazzle. As an example Kerry was trashed because he spoke French! That is hardly a reason to despise him; on the contrary he should be admired especially since most Americans can barely speak their own language! Or, if nothing else works, bring up Jesus and there you have it. Re elected! Any views?
