The billionaires and their klown kar minions are desperate to keep the rage of their base, many of whom have seen their jobs and hopes for a better life disappear, focused on those who even have less than them, focused on those who are also the victims of globalization, outsourcing and corporate greed.

Their focusing that rage has always worked before with subtle dog whistles because no one was shouting from the rooftops like Bernie is doing now that it is the billionaires who having been stealing the dreams of millions.

So no more dog whistles, the gloves are off because Bernie has thrown down the gauntlet.

5. As long as all Democratic candidates accepted money from superpacs and

the super-wealthy, they were beholding to their donors so they basically went along to get along. As long as the boat wasn't rocked too much, repukes kept their most offensive opinions as dog whistles. Then comes a true independent.

Not only is Bernie welcoming their hatred, he isn't beholding to them financially so he can call a spade a spade, only he can really go for the jugular regarding the money trail.

It is true that republican appeals to racism and anti-immigration have been getting more and more strident as their base shrinks relative to the rest of the population. It is standard politics that, if your base is shrinking and you can't or won't reach out to new voters, you have to get a higher and higher percentage of the base to the polls. Of course republicans do that using fear and US vs THEM scare tactics.

anti-immigrant and as a result those running as republicans to woo this growing segment of the party are reflecting this change.

I don't think whether Sanders is running or not would have made any difference is the fuck-nuttery of the republican candidates.

I don't think so. Fox and Talk Radio have nurtured the irrationality and hate their base so proudly display. The base is angry and have absorbed the lie that the reason for their miseries is immigrants, liberals and non-whites. Up to now they believed the lies because they have heard nothing but the same lies over and over. i think that Bernie's message that the billionaires can't have it all can actually penetrate the lies they have come to believe as truth. I think billionaires know that the massive resentment that is now directed at minorities and immigrants could under the right circumstances be re-directed at them.
