Ben Carson Does Not Believe a Muslim Should Be President

So now that Trump has said he "loves the Muslims", the rest of the field has an opening to be the biggest anti-Muslim bigot and pick up a good portion of Trump's current supporters:

Ben Carson Does Not Believe a Muslim Should Be President

by Ed Demaria

Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said he would not support a Muslim as President of the United States.

Responding to a question on "Meet the Press," the retired neurosurgeon said, "I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that."

He also said that Islam, as a religion, is incompatible with the Constitution.

Carson, who is near the top of several early presidential polls, said a president's faith should matter depending on what that faith is. "If it's inconsistent with the values and principles of America, then of course it should matter," he clarified.

Carson's comments come days after another Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, did not distance himself from a questioner at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire who accused President Obama of being a foreign-born Muslim and called Muslims a "problem" in the United States. Carson said he has "no reason to doubt" that President Obama was born in the United States and is a Christian.

My relative who is a nurse told me she met several brilliant doctors, who outside the OR would be absolute assholes.

Racist, misogynist, or just in general being an asshole.

Looks like Ben Carson is in that group.

at knowing how to play to the racist bigoted base of the GOP.

But neither can hold a candle to the absolute brilliance of Donald Trump knowing how to play to that base.

Todd could have just said "what is incompatible?" is he wanted to be courteous. He left it as if it's a reasonable position that wouldn't need explanation. Crappy journalism, leaving a man too bigoted or stupid to be president unchallenged.

he crossed a line here that even with all the things people have said about Muslims, I don't think any presidential candidate has said they should not be allowed to be President. Maybe I'm wrong, there have been many things said, especially since Sept 11 2001 but regardless, this statement stands out. It goes beyond "finding offense".

I am sure DU would have found offense at that.

Now we are talking about what Carson said today.

Again you think only your issue matters at all. The Muslims are a minority too.

Maybe you could go back to 2013, and examine the subthread you started with this post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=2948862

Wherein you proclaim that gay people are ungrateful to Obama, that they have plenty of rights, that marriage isn't a big deal, and otherwise straightsplain yourself into a deep muddy hole.

Again you think only your issue matters at all.

this thread was about Muslims, BNW always hijacks every thread to be about gay people - who had nothing to do with this scenario. And it's false. DU does not have posters who would have not been offended by any of Carson's anti-gay BS.

Why is this even a topic for discussion in this primary season? There are no Muslims running in either major party for anyone to vote for.

Or did I miss something? Is one of the never-ending list of Republicans a Muslim?

They can't let this ridiculous meme go, even though Obama is in the last 18 months of his administration?

It can't just be about Obama. It's clearly got a racist foundation that extends well beyond the POTUS. He's the most obvious, and convenient, target, but if it were just about him, wouldn't they simply begin celebrating the rapidly approaching end of his time in the WH?

Edited to add: How does Carson twist this around...is it because he's black, it can't be about race, but must be about faith?
