one big serpent! When I lived in WY on a ranch it wasn't uncommon to bale up rattlesnakes.

And you can't feed that hay to horses (don't know about cattle) - the dead animal can give your hay eaters botulism.

We've found snakes, cotton rats and field mice baled in our hay. Usually they were smashed in between the "flakes" and only the contacting areas were ruined.

I just read on an equine forum that they now have botulism shots to protect horses - advisable if you're feeding round bales. I'll have to ask my vet about those!
