I'm going to put on my liberal hat here and say that the vast majority of migrants, refugees, whatever, just want to find a place to settle down, open up a little bodega, learn the language, and become productive members of society.

Sadly, if just a tiny percentage of them act like the assholes in the video you posted, they're going to f**k it up for the rest.

The right-wing in Europe is making gains. And it is because of this.

We have many Arab Muslim communities here. Heck, Dearborn, MI is a great place! Arab Muslims have come to the United States and thrived! Sent their kids to college. Built businesses. Made money. Got along with everyone.

Walk down the streets of Dearborn at night with no fear. Nobody is going to mess with you. Everyone minds themselves.

How is it that America has succeeded for the most part at assimilating Arab Muslims while Europe is struggling? What did we do different?

and good sheriffs like the one in Texas to keep them in line. We had Bush who kept them in line during his tenure, and Obama mostly continued Bushes policies. Plus they think hes one of them which eases things even more.

Ok... I'm done being antagonistic now

Sometimes I respond faster than I can read what I was responding to.

I'm just so used to everyone being so reactionary and pissed off. My sarcasm detecter needs to be recalibrated. Cheers!

I can't imagine anywhere earth needing more of them to be honest, except maybe the Marianas Trench.

Edit: Bah, stupid keyboard, stupid Shandris.

The problem is there's no way to tell who is a refugee...and who is BH or IS. There are odds that one is each...but that's about the extent of it. Maybe reject the fighting age men travelling alone from non-war countries? That's a good start, but afterwards...?

It's messy. Very messy.

And, I believe, quite intentional. An agenda is being fulfilled here. Whose...not quite sure. Entirely.

Especially the rich ones.

Europe is drowning in refugees during a time of crisis while the saudis of the world sit back and laugh.

I heard several more interviewed today.

One was a refugee from occupied, war-torn Baghdad, currently being sacked by ISIS. Oh, wait, that didn't happen. He wanted a better job. He tried getting to the US and is tired of waiting on paperwork. He's not a refugee.

Another fled a town that was occupied and sacked, her family killed. Two years ago. Since then they've been living in Turkey. They fled Syria with the shirts on their back, enough gold to pay $10k or more for passage over water and then for passage on land, only to flee war-torn Turkey, currently with Islamist gangs brutally raping and killing people. Not.

A third had been a college student and when the college was shut down had to discontinue studies. Wanted to study in Germany before he was forced to accept training in Syria. Now, a couple of years after his school was closed, he's decided it's a good chance to seek legal status as a refugee when he couldn't get legal status to study. Plus it's a better deal--schooling plus a stipend.

No, not everybody's like this. But enough are--the wave of "refugees" just happens to follow not a huge flare-up in fighting but a huge flare-up in media attention on how Europe, esp. Germany, is welcoming to those who need a better life, and at the same time that the host countries in the ME that sheltered the refugees for years have tapered off (seeing a place to go, and impatient with funding aid--meaning that these countries are using the Syrian population as political pawns). At the same time, many of the migrants are just bored and don't see a future. That's what happens during and after a war. Many people don't see a future.
