he's just looking mean now, not funny, and they won't forgive them for that

There was something odd, though, about Jeb saying "my brother kept us safe. Remember the rubble?"

Uhhhhh. That was safe?

But Paul was trying to correct Trump's statement re the only one being against Iraq and Trump dismissed him out of hand.

I think Trump's shtick is wearing thin with the thinking crowd.

Still a lot of Pavlovian applause re Bush and 9/11 so full brain power is not operational though.

It's the best thing that ever happened to them. Historians have already said as much about W's Presidency. They have tried and almost succeeded in making it their holiday.

9/11 affirmed everything they'd ever been told and it was BLAM BLAM time for war and killing. Wrap itself with some holy crusader BS and they were giddy with excitement. They basically danced on the graves at their 2004 convention in NYC.

"well, Jeb, your brother had a disastrous policy in Iraq and I was the only one on this stage to oppose it. And it was horrible."

Jeb replied that he didn't appreciate the attacks on his brother, who "kept us safe. Remember September 11?," seemingly unaware of the contradiction in what he had just said.

As are many at the debate.

Even Reagan tried for some gun laws after his aide was shot and brain-damaged for life.

Also Reagan wasn't afraid to make treaties, not go make war on everybody. He made a lot of economical and other mistakes thanks to his handlers. But he had a nice smile, and that helped when it came to talking to other world leaders.

At one point Rubio was trying to counter what Teh Donald was saying with actual pointed argument. It didn't work ( because that's NOT the Game Donald is playing).
Rubio seemed frustrated as all get, and he came off looking like a petulant child.

I will say this for him tho..He at least knows which fight is coming...said something about 'we KNOW what The Lefts answer to these problems is, and we know that it will be horrible for our economy...'

Not so much, kid, but at least you're throwing your punches in the right direction.

Paul did a good job, and if it weren't for jeb and trump being onstage, I think his message would have resonated.

Too bad Bernie is going to drink the FUCK out of his foreign policy and drug problem Milkshake lol

Not the media or even competitors in a debate. He doesn't have a campaign. He has SOME staff and, I would guess, he has offices in Iowa, NH, SC but Not much. He is running in free airtime and he cites polls from the news. He doesn't appear to have any internal info or advice as you mentioned.

There is explanation of HOW he is going to do anything. When he says "my people" someone needs to ask "Who ARE these people?"

You can't just insult your way to the nomination. Usually you have people like Rove to do that for you.

I think it was seen as a cheap shot as Paul got under his skin early on and all Paul was trying to do was correct an obvious falsehood.

That may be Trump's maccaaca moment for the primary.

in the Senate, McCain had not stood up for veterans benefits, which is true. His silly remarks about McCain not being a hero were
counter productive, IMO.

The comments about Paul were just nonsensical.

They love this kind of shit.

As for the audience, remember it was composed of supporters of each candidate and all were given an equal allotment of tickets.

So it's not going to be an accurate representation. A good chunk were rooting against Trump before they went in.

Over at Freeperville, they're still cheering him on as hard as ever. They also are going full misogyny on Fiorina, and calling her a b---h, comparing her to their ex-wives and throwing out every vile word you can think of this morning. They don't like their chosen one being challenged.

Trump has achieved full Palin in the GOP, and it's hard to see any scenario where the rightwing base lets go of their new cult leader. Facts and positions will mean nothing. All that matters is the gut feeling that drives them.

Unlike the personal insults, calling McCain a loser for getting captured, the anti-Mexican racism, and so on, it's actually relevant to a debate - "Republicans don't want you as president". Aggressive, sure, but that's what the Republican hordes are lapping up.
