GEORGETOWN A Georgetown church has started a petition asking the county commissioners to remove a Confederate monument standing at the south entrance of the Williamson County Courthouse in Georgetown.
It symbolizes an era harkening back to the Confederacy, which stood for slavery and white supremacy, and thats the wrong message for today, said Lou Snead, a member of the San Gabriel Unitarian Universalist Church in Georgetown ...
The churchs hope is that the city and county will move the statue to another place in Georgetown, such as the International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery or the Williamson Museum ...
