You held out for as long as you could, but one day against your better judgment you clicked on a viral video. A song about chocolate rain. A man going full-psycho over double rainbows. Rebecca. Effing. Black. You didnt feel great about it, but you just couldnt help it.
We may never have a hard-and-fast gauge on what makes something go viral something to do with wisdom tooth extraction meds? but we can still, retroactively, attempt to make sense of some of it. Thats why every week well be taking a look back at the things that went viral exactly five years prior.
Heres what was buzzing around the Internet for the week of June 13, 2010:
Carly Fiorina kicked off her presidential campaign last month with a video of herself powering off Hillarys announcement with a remote, an all-too-fitting if not stupidly on-the-nose piece of imagery for the former Hewlett-Packard head whose political strategy, dating back to 2010, has been premised on the sorority girl taunting of her female opponents.
Shes attempted to power them off, if you will, one by one with cheap jabs at their fashion choices from sunglass etiquette (Who wears sunglasses at a Chipotle?) to pantsuit flaunting (Picking out pantsuits is what Hillary considers a hard choice? Im over here fixing ISIS stuff.).
