Probe of Chris Christie's Port Authority Chairman Causes Airline CEO Resignation

New York Times: Jeff Smisek...(t)he chief executive...of United Airlines... and two senior officials...resigned...amid a federal investigation into whether the airline had traded favors with (David Samson), the chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey...

The resignations...complicate the fortunes of (Chris) Christie...as he moves ahead on his presidential bid, by underscoring the accusations of cronyism that have dogged his administration since the bridge scandal broke...

Christie let Samson run the PA while Samson also ran a law firm whose clients did business with the PA. But Samson didn't take a salary from the PA -- that would have been unethical!

That alone blows my mind...opening up a city Dept. to some shmuck off the street to play with, no obligations, no accountability....wow.
( I am assuming that the PA falls under some city/county jurisdiction, of course.
Or is it somehow a non-taxpayer supported authority?)
